Ultra-thin, 12-ply stitched buffs engineered for accessing narrow channels and deep recesses. When finishing intricate jewelry or complex watch cases, a standard 50-ply workhorse wheel is simply too thick to reach into tight corners without over-polishing and ruining the surrounding high spots. The ORO® Buff Razor Edge solves this critical bench problem. Manufactured with only 12 plies of tightly stitched, premium fabric, these "flying saucer" wheels taper down to a sharp, knife-like edge. This ultra-thin profile allows bench jewelers to deliver targeted cutting and polishing power directly into microscopic crevices, tight prong settings, and deep engravings.
The ORO® Color-Coded Hardness System
Select the precise chemical treatment required for your specific polishing stage:
-
Dark Yellow (Hardest): Maximum stiffness. Perfectly matched with coarse compounds for aggressive scratch removal inside narrow channels.
-
Light Yellow (Firm): The standard pre-polishing choice. Durable and persistent for leveling surfaces in tight geometry.
-
White (Soft): Untreated, high-density feather fabric. Pairs with fine rouges for the final high-gloss mirror finish in recessed areas.
-
Berry (Specialty Soft): Chemically treated for durability but remains relatively soft. Highly prized for the final mirror-finishing process on Platinum.
Critical Bench Safety: RPM Limits
Due to their ultra-thin 12-ply construction, Razor Edge buffs cannot withstand the centrifugal force of standard 3450 RPM bench lathes. You MUST adhere to the following maximum speed limits to prevent wheel disintegration and surface burning:
-
4-Inch Diameter: Maximum 2,800 RPM
-
5-Inch & 6-Inch Diameters: Maximum 1,400 RPM
