The adjustable, micro-abrasive detail pen for cleaning watch movements and removing corrosion. Restoring vintage watches or servicing quartz movements often requires the localized removal of rust, battery acid, or tarnish without altering the underlying steel or brass components. The Fiberglass Scratch Brush operates exactly like a mechanical pencil, utilizing a bundle of tightly packed, micro-abrasive glass fibers to manually scrub away contamination. By twisting the pen body to expose more or less of the fiberglass tip, watchmakers can instantly adjust the rigidity of the brush, providing surgical cleaning control on delicate horological components.
Advantages
-
Adjustable Rigidity: The ferrule mechanism allows you to control the stiffness of the bristles. Retract the fibers for a short, rigid tip to aggressively attack stubborn rust. Extend the fibers for a longer, softer tip to gently sweep away light tarnish or dust.
-
Non-Magnetic Cleaning: Because the abrasive medium is pure fiberglass, it will not magnetize delicate watch gears, hairsprings, or movement plates during the cleaning process.
-
Pinpoint Accuracy: The 11mm pen body rests comfortably in the hand, allowing the technician to apply targeted friction to microscopic areas, such as circuit board contacts, without scratching adjacent components.
-
Replaceable Refills: The tool is designed for long-term bench use. When the fiberglass bundle wears down completely, the internal core can be easily replaced with fresh fiberglass refills.
