The maximum-hardness treated buff for aggressive stock removal and deep scratch repair. When standard pre-polishing wheels are not rigid enough to power through deep gouges or heavy casting skin, bench jewelers must switch to a higher hardness grade. The ORO® Dark Yellow Muslin Buff is the stiffest non-platinum wheel in the ORO color system. Manufactured from 50 plies of thick cotton and infused with a highly concentrated chemical treatment, this wheel provides the extreme rigidity and durability required to aggressively cut, flatten, and repair severely damaged metal surfaces.
Advantages
-
Maximum Chemical Hardness: Compared to the standard Light Yellow buff, the Dark Yellow treatment results in a significantly stiffer fabric structure. This ensures the wheel does not collapse or mushroom under heavy pressure during aggressive cutting operations.
-
Heavy Defect Removal: Perfectly matched with the highest-grain coarse wax compounds (such as Tripoli or aggressive Japanese cutting rouges). It rapidly cuts through deep scratches, file marks, and stubborn casting porosity on gold, silver, brass, and bronze.
-
Concentric Stitching: Tightly bound by concentric rows of heavy-duty circular stitching, maintaining the rigid 50-ply structure required for high-pressure flattening and rapid stock removal.
-
Extreme Durability: The concentrated chemical binder drastically extends the wheel's working life, preventing the cotton fibers from burning or fraying when subjected to the intense friction of heavy cutting.
